Hôtel Escale Oceania Vannes

My visit to Vannes and southern Brittany was a great success, made even better by the hotel. The accommodation is really well designed with separate toilet and bathroom and the best shower unit of any hotel I have visited (and better than mine at home). The room was kept spotlessly clean throughout my four-day visit. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The receptionist was very welcoming when I arrived and suggested (and arranged) a taxi to the railway station when I left at the end of my stay. Breakfast was good; I did not make use of the restaurant though if a sample menu had been included with the brochures left in my room, I might have been persuaded. I have no hesitation in recommending the Escale Oceania hotel in Vannes.

We should have had our rooms ready at 3 PM. When asking the receptionist shortly after 3, she told us that all our rooms are ready, yet she then admitted (and was very rude and arrogant), that not all of our rooms are ready. So far, we have been waiting for an hour in the lobby, no apologies or at least a glass of water on the house. Also their parking is not accessible and we have to park in the street. Edit: It has been 90 minutes. Another group of guests gets their rooms before the rest of us. Still not even an apology or an explanation. I am starting to get very pi**ed. Edit: It has been 2 hours. Still no rooms or even an apology. Their explanation is extremely poor. Edit: It has been 2,5 hours. I am speechless. Edit: Overall this whole incident took around 3 hours. Absolutely unprofessional handling of the whole situation. I wouldn’t wish such experience to anyone.

Hard to understand how a guest could rate this hotel 5-star, or even 4-star. Must be reviews funded by the management. Rooms are tiny and very cramped for. No confortable place to sit, very little space for clothes. Tiny workspace with a tiny bench. Lobby spartan with uncomfortable furniture. Location OK - a short walk ro City Hall. At least it was clean.
